An Australian internship can be very lucrative for a career boost as the nation has ample internship opportunities for candidates of many nationalities. An internship can be secured in many different areas, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Management, Hospitality, Media and many more. This type of experience is very well-regarded in most nations worldwide and getting a job in Australia can also be an option after successful completion. However, there are mandatory Visa requirements for doing an internship in the country and they must be followed by a candidate. We take a look here at some of the options that are present for doing an internship in the country.

  • Work and Holiday Visa(W&H Visa) – There are many types of visas for candidates of different nationalities that can be procured for doing an internship in Australia. The Work and Holiday Visa with subclass 417 or 462 can be an ideal way to get access to the nation. This type of visa is valid for six months and the visa-holder can work for six months in a company using it. Therefore, two internships can be completed with this type of visa within a year.

If a candidate can work for an internship in a remote or regional area of the country like this one in this review, then visa for the second year can also be obtained and it is one of the most noteworthy points for this type of visa. The process of applying for this type of visa is quite simple and only a candidate needs to show an employment or internship proof for making an application. It is also required that the candidate must be between 18 to 30 years of age so that an application can be made successfully. However, there is a catch to this type of visa. The W&H visa can only be obtained once.

Therefore, if a candidate wants to live and work in the country for a year, using it for an internship may not be the best way to utilize it. However, depending upon a circumstance, a call can be taken accordingly.

  • Student Visa –If a candidate plans to study during an internship, applying for a student visa can be more helpful. During a term in a school, a student can work for up to 20 hours per week and during school holidays, it can even extend to 40 hours. Hence, for a paid internship, it is deemed as part of the working hours. In case if an internship is an unpaid one, one can still find some part-time work that can be a great advantage for not-so richcandidates.
  • Other types of visas – Australia offers many other types of visas depending upon an internship and eligibility qualifications. The 407 Training Visa and the 408 Temporary Activity Visa are some of the other types of visas that the country offers to candidates.

As we can see here that there are many different types of visas available, a correct one can be chosen by a candidate. Depending upon an internship preference and suitability, a matching visa can be applied so that an internship can be completed in the country.
